Permanent vs Weekly Hair Systems: Pros and Cons

When you decide to use a hair system or a wig, there are different options for adhering them to our head, ranging from permanent hair implants, to weekly (or biweekly) ones, to wigs or daily hair implants.

But let’s analyze all these options thoroughly and see the pros and cons.

What is the permanent hair system or wig

These are hair replacement systems  that remain attached to our head for more than a month; it ranges from a minimum of one month to a maximum of 3 months.

These hair systems have nothing different from weekly or daily, what changes are the method of adhesion.

They are used on the entire base of strong-lasting tapes such as extra bonds and are reinforced with very long-lasting acrylic glues. Adhesion  is very strong and lasts a very long time. Normally it is the hair prosthesis or wig centers that use these methods.

So that the customer can return to them every month or every 2-3 months to do the maintenance in the center itself. The customer is facilitated in his life and the center has a periodic source of income, which adds to the cost of the hair system.

Another method of anchoring are the keratin threads. The hairdresser fixes the prosthesis to the client’s hair with invisible threads, which allow a fixed adhesion for a very long time (that’s why we insert them in permanent prostheses) and every 40-50 days, the customer will have to go back to the hairdresser to change the strands (as the native hair grows they lose the fixing of the system) with new ones… the whole operation takes an hour and costs from 50 to 200 euros depending on the hairdresser.

As we said above, these are normal hair prostheses, but the anchoring method changes compared to the permanent ones. Less strong tapes and adhesives are used, and they remain adhered to the skin from a week to a maximum of 15 days.

The tapes used are those of the Walker or other companies, from Ultra Hold to Super Tapes, like glues instead of normal water or acrylic glues (hypoallergenic) Every week the customer alone will remove the system and clean it (without having to go to the hairdresser or wig center) and put it back on. These non-surgical thickening systems are lifted every night. The client who opts for these systems wants to take them off in the evening and sleep without hair implants. The anchoring methods are basically 2.

1. Clips all around the system that open every evening to allow the wearer to remove the system.
2. Delicate tapes that allow the wearer to remove the system in the evening and reactivate them in the morning with a hairdryer.

But which prosthesis is better the permanent, the weekly or the daily one?

As in all things in life it depends on our needs and what we seek.

If we want hair, completely forgetting that we have a prosthesis, and we don’t care to pay for the maintenance every month, perhaps the permanent system option is the best.

The disadvantages but unfortunately there are.
