People have been talking a lot about this lotion for some years, the Brotzu lotion.
Its creator is Giovanni Brotzu, Giuseppe Brotzu’s son, a medic who, in 1945, contributed to the discovery of cephalosporins, antibiotics which guarantee to cure diseases once incurable.
This lotion, according to doctor Brotzu, would allow hair to regrow in case of androgenic alopecia and areata, therefore it would be an incredible and revolutionary discovery, which would solve a widespread aesthetic problem.
The doctor would have discovered it as often happens in medicine, by chance.
Indeed, the doctor says:
“We have started our study to find a solution to some collateral effects of diabetes, in particular micro circulation defects, which cause both annoying and painful ulcers. The same ones which also broadly trigger the degeneration of hair bulbs.”
It was discovered that this therapy, with cathodic liposomes, not only cures lesions, but it also makes hairs regrow in the ulcerous area, which immediately made the doctor understand that it could have been used in cases of baldness and alopecia areata.
“We tested this lotion for the first time on a child and on a nurse with whom we were collaborating– says Brotzu – with excellent results. During the last few years we have patented the lotion and given the rights to a pharmaceutical company named Fidia, in order to complete the studies. This decision was made because we were aware that a suitable structure for the final experimentation would have been needed. After all I’m a surgeon and now I’m not young anymore, which allows me to leave most of the work to other people”.
IS LOTION BROTZU EFFECTIVE?

After all these events, lots of people have mobilized to request a prompt commercialization of the lotion to Fida, since Fida itself, contrary to what people were hoping for, has postponed it several times.
But together with this enthusiasm, after years of waiting, some doubts start to arise, given the few photos about the treated cases, why all this secrecy if the product has been patented and therefore there is no risk of it being copied?
DOES LOTION BROTZU WORK AGAINST ALOPECIA ?
If you have time to read the many discussions, some doubts about this lotion start to be believable. There are very few cases, lots of secrets and time wasted.
So it would seem that, on one side, they haven’t managed to stabilize the lotion(this is reason behind the delay of its commercialization), and, above all, it doesn’t work as well as it was believed.
Only with time (it should have been already released in 2016 according to many) we will know if it is an important turning point for curing alopecia or it is one of the many hyped but not very effective lotions.
In our opinion this lotion, if stabilized, could be useful in case of alopecia areata. Personally we don’t believe it is that effective for androgenic alopecia, but these are just sensations, not certainties.
