According to vocabulary, a wig is a fake hair, and if you need one, for sure you will prefer an invisible wig.
In jargon different synonyms are used: toupee, hairpiece, hair prosthesis, system, replacement and even some say “hair attack”.
In English, this type of wig is called “HairPiece“. From now on, when we talk about prosthetics, systems or wigs, we will refer to the same thing.
Fortunately, today there are drugs that can control some types of alopecia. Androgenic alopecia or Alopecia Areata often have a solution or at least can be controlled over the long term.
However, in irreversible alopecia or in cases of impending hair loss in which the treatments take too long to function, we can definitively or temporarily use a modern wig.
A permanent hair system is the one we plan to use for a long time or maybe forever. This means that it is connected to our scalp 24 hours a day and will accompany us at all times, but will be removed every week to clean and clean the skin and scalp.
There are alopecia (advanced androgenetic, some cicatriziali behind) that unfortunately have no more solution. So excluding an intervention surgical, the only possible solution to mask them is a permanent wig.
People who have to use certain drugs or strong treatments such as chemotherapy, in general, almost lose
all the hair in a span of two or three months. There is not yet a drug that helps to counteract the effect on hair of these powerful drugs in our body.
The reality is that in complex situations such as a disease that endangers our lives, hair goes into the background. However, as soon as the patient begins to recover, among its first concerns are the side effects of these drugs: hair loss.
In these cases, there is no alternative but a temporary wig, until the hair returns to its normal growth cycle and is long enough to allow the patient to feel comfortable.
The same happens in cases of Alopecia Areata, Alopecia Traumatica, Telogenic effluvio or alopecia of any type that is only reversible.
In reality there is no particular difference between a permanent wig and a temporary wig. What we should keep in mind is alone their quality. If our idea is to use it for three months, we can consider a classic wig that is not necessarily invisible.
If, on the contrary, we intend to use it forever, it is imperative to acquire two wigs (to alternate them) of high quality and if possible, with an invisible base.
Wigs, prejudices and lack of information
Unfortunately, wigs continue to be a topic that is not talked about. There are too many prejudices and especially among men is a question that lends itself to jokes.
What many people do not know is that many people use literally undetectable prostheses. Actors, singers and high-level people have wigs of the latest generation that can not be detected even centimeters away.
It would not make much sense to name the actors who use these prosthetics, but to get an idea, many who also advertise shampoos and hair products since they have beautiful hair, they actually have a wig.
The same with women. There are several models that use this type of prosthesis. And we’re not talking about appliques or hairpieces, but about wigs that cover part or all of the scalp.
Virtually invisible wigs
The meshes of these prostheses are made of a semi-transparent synthetic material, which becomes invisible in contact with the scalp. In fact, they cover the front line and the entrances in such a way as to seem natural.
This is exactly what sets them apart from the old wigs: they allow us to show hair from every angle and show the front without fear.
If it is well positioned, joints between the wig and the scalp can not be seen. For this example we placed a piece of knit on the upper phalanx, showing that it “disappears” when it comes in contact with the skin.
As you can see, where there is perfect contact, we can see that the base is literally invisible. This image has an increase of almost 3X and shows the weak points in greater detail.
It is very difficult to identify something “out of the ordinary” in these prosthetics. They are “all-terrain” wigs, which can be used without fear on the beach, in swimming pools and even practicing extreme sports. The most important detail to feel safe is the way to put it and the glue that is used.
It is necessary to emphasize that these wigs are used by people of all ages and sexes.
Maintenance can be done at home, in a specialized center or in hairdressers who have prosthesis experience.
Depending on the brand, quality and type of adhesive, it will be necessary to disinfect (remove the prosthesis) once a week, once every 15 days or once a month, we always recommend not to exceed 10 days.
We can take a shower with the prosthesis, wash our hair, play sports and live a normal life without the need for maintenance even for a long time.
Many people consider us an unsafe option, but the truth is that modern prosthetics are far from the concept
current of a “wig”.
Many people are unaware of the existence of this new generation of wigs, often used by actors, models and celebrities.
They are undetectable even a few centimeters away
They can cover part or all of the scalp. The union in the front / front becomes invisible, giving a natural and natural look allowing to show also the hairline.
This is a non-detectable wig. The photograph clearly shows how the attached base becomes invisible when it comes into contact with the scalp.
If the prosthesis is positioned correctly, we can not detect anything out of the ordinary. It really resembles the original hair.
Depending on the occasion, different adhesives are used
A sticker to practice WindSurf is not the same as another for daily use where there are no risks. The chances of the prosthesis being removed are practically nil.
In the following picture we can see that both the back and the sides are camouflaged when the real hair and the hair the prosthesis come together.
We do not perceive strange lines, bulges or unnatural forms.
