Today we are going to explain what microlines hair extensions or hair thickener is, and for whom it would work best.
Many of our female clients use this kind of hair thickening system. Typically, they are between 40 and 75 years old. Unfortunately, though, more and more often, younger women are requesting it too. Alopecia, in fact, is increasingly affecting younger women due to the hormones in our food and to the stress of our society – which is becoming progressively more demanding and fast paced.
The microlines are made of an elastic net threaded with human hair. They are tricologic hair systems that can be anchored to the head using clips (in this way, it is easier to take them off and put them on as pleased) or using keratin (which is through artificial hair filaments that can be semi-permanently fixed to the tricologic system for about a month).
The good and bad side of Microlines hair extensions
These hair replacement systems are recommended for women and girls who have scattered alopecia and lack hair volume. As every artificial solution, they have both pros and cons that we list below:
PROS and benefit of microlines
Since they are made of an elastic net, they are very adaptable to one’s head shape, and do not necessitate a mould – the only requirement is providing the measurements of the area that one needs to cover. Importantly, they do not create wrinkles even when the size is not perfect – dissimilarly, silk top systems would occasional wrinkle (in fact, for silk top systems we always recommend to provide precise measurements and specify the head curvature).
Since they are built using a wide net, they allow for complete transpiration and consent one, if interested, to mix one’s own hair with the hair of the system, just by letting it through the net itself.
If one anchors the microlines using clips, one can take them off at any time. These are therefore ideal solutions for those who need to use lotions of medical ointments for their scalp. They are also perfect for someone who desires or needs to not wear them all the time.
CONS or disadvantages of hair thickener
The microlines are not suitable for complete alopecia, when there is no hair left on the scalp, or when there is barely any hair. In these instances, in fact, the system would not look totally natural.
If one uses clips and takes the system off at night, every morning they’ll have to repeat the same routine of putting it back on. However, as you can see from this video shot by one of the writers of our Italian forum www.hairsystems-wigs.com, this is a very quick process.
For whom is this hair replacement system most suitable?
For girls and women affected by partial alopecia who need to thicken their own natural hair.
Who should not consider this system? Boys and men who need a replacement system with short hair, or people who are affected by complete or widespread alopecia.
